Anniversary of Tirta Empul Temple

THIS ancient temple established in the eleventh century is famous as sanctum for self-purification. As the name implies, Tirta Empul meaning ‘spring’ really has great spring channeled through some showers. Devotees throng the temple pond to get self-purification.

It is located in the Tampaksiring subdistrict and the piodalan or temple anniversary falls on the full moon in October. This temple is one of the popular spiritual tourist destinations in Bali.
