Tumpek Landep

ENDLESS prayers are performed by Hindus to uphold their life and express gratitude to God. Various rituals are made in relation to their activities. Tumpek Landep, for instance, falling on Saniscara (Saturday) Kliwon Landep, was formerly marked with the worship and ritual to all weapons (landep implies ‘sharp items’) and other metal apparatus.
Nowadays, interpretation of the celebration has been expanded. Any working device or others made of metal supporting human activities are given ritual on the Tumpek Landep. Vehicles, motorcycles, machines, television set, computer and others are also given the offerings. It is marked with typical sampian festoon added with other oblations. Thus, when happening to travel in Bali you will see many cars are marked with this festoon.
